MATT FOORD RETURNS TO BRACKNELL

Head Coach of the Bracknell Hornets, Mark Saunders, has had a busy couple of weeks recruiting players for the team for our upcoming 2019/20 campaign. Tonight is the start of player announcements as we announce Matt Foord returning to The Hive wearing the Hornets jersey and also joining the team as our Assistant Coach for the 2019/20 Season.

Matt Foord last season played with the Invicta Dynamos as Assistant Captain having played 38 leagues games scoring 2 goals and 10 assists with 44 penalty points followed by playing 2 games in the Playoffs having assisting 1 goal and adding 2 penalty minutes.

Before joining Invicta last season, Matt was a part of the Bracknell Bees on and off from 2005 through to 2017 with being the Assistant Captain from 2011 to 2014 followed by being Captain of the Bees from 2014 to 2018. Over the years of being with the Bees, Matt has played 490 games, scored 105 goals with 147 assists having sat for 698 minutes along with playing 28 playoff games with having scored 10 goals, 8 assists with 38 penalty minutes.

Mark Saunders comments ‘I'm over the moon with getting Matt's commitment to the Hornets for the 2019/20 season, his experience and wealth of knowledge at this level will be invaluable for the upcoming season. 

Matt will be working with me as Assistant Coach and as such we are going to be pushing ourselves to get the very best from the players we are recruiting. It's an exciting time in Bracknell and I couldn't be happier with our first signing.’

On signing with the Hornets, Matt says, ‘I’m very excited to be joining the Hornets, Bracknell is a club that’s close to my heart, I hope my experience and knowledge of the game will help the team, and help develop some of our younger players.  I am equally excited to be part of the coaching team. At this stage of my career coaching is something I really want to get into, and I’m thankful for Bracknell and Mark giving me this opportunity. Mark is an excellent coach and I believe we can put together a competitive team. I’ve known Mark for a number of years and I’m really looking forward to working with him.’
